From Istanbul, Portland, and Chicago, I picked up these photographs in thrift or vintage stores. We decided to post these photographs on the Never Heard of Her Instagram preceding our launch to portray the fluidity of the “Her” in our blog title. The voyeuristic and vernacular quality of found photographs drew me to collect them, but also I feel that I am preserving and repurposing art. These photographs found their way to second-hand stores, after they were deemed useless by past owners; or maybe they had been passed between so many generations that the subjects were no longer recognizable. Here, on this blog, they have a new home as we welcome these women, and all women.
